Composite Technology Corporation: Composite Technology's DeWind Completes Turbines for Chile

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - December 29, 2008) - Composite Technology Corporation (CTC) (OTCBB: [ CPTC ]) announced today that its subsidiary DeWind Inc has shipped the last five D8-2000 wind turbines for a wind power generation project in Chile. DeWind previously shipped five turbines to the Port of Houston for the same project. The total group of ten units will be placed on a ship for immediate transport to Chile. The turbines were assembled in Round Rock, Texas by TECO Westinghouse, where DeWind's D8-2000 and D8.2 turbine assembly capabilities have been established under the terms of a Commercial Manufacturing Agreement.

Robert Rugh, President of DeWind, stated, "This shipment successfully completes the assembly phase of this turbine supply contract. The nacelles and hubs will meet up with the blades already shipped from Germany and customer supplied towers in Chile. We now look forward to the successful erection and commissioning per the customer schedule."

The D8.2 turbine uses a WinDrive® hydrodynamic torque converter, by Voith AG, in combination with a synchronous high voltage generator that is synchronized directly to the grid without the use of power conversion electronics.
