A recent study published in the journal *Experimental Gerontology* suggests that performing just one set of resistance exercises can be as effective as multiple sets for building strength and muscle mass, particularly in older adults. The research, conducted by the University of Colorado Boulder, involved participants aged 60 to 80 who engaged in a 12-week program of resistance training. The findings indicated that while both single-set and multiple-set groups saw improvements, the single-set group achieved similar gains in muscle strength and size with less time commitment. This approach could make strength training more accessible and less intimidating for those who might be deterred by the time and effort required for longer workouts, potentially encouraging more people to incorporate resistance training into their fitness routines.
