Ogiwara, who had previously won silver in the same event, executed a complex trick known as the switch backside 1800 melon, which involves five full rotations while grabbing the board. His performance was highlighted by his ability to land this trick on his second attempt, showcasing his skill and innovation in snowboarding. This victory marks a significant achievement in his career, especially following his recovery from a severe injury in 2021 where he broke his neck.
