India sees record deal activity in February at $7.2 billion

In February, India experienced a significant surge in deal activity, reaching a record high with 198 deals amounting to $5.1 billion, according to a report by Grant Thornton Bharat. This activity was predominantly driven by private equity (PE) investments, which saw a 50% increase in value from the previous year, totaling $4.4 billion across 120 deals. The sectors leading this investment boom included startups, pharma, healthcare, and IT, with notable investments in companies like Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, Lenskart, and Healthium Medtech. Additionally, there was a marked increase in M&A activities, with 78 deals valued at $700 million, showcasing a 12% rise in deal volume. This upswing in deal-making reflects a robust economic environment and investor confidence in India's market potential.
