Ed Sheeran credits Northern Ireland as 'huge part' of his career during surprise visit to Belfast

The Harry Potter star, 54, will be given Bafta's highest honour at its annual film awards next month for his "trailblazing work" as an actor as well as for his advocacy work which includes a talent agency and charity which support people with dwarfism.


During a surprise visit to Belfast, Ed Sheeran expressed his deep gratitude towards Northern Ireland, crediting it as a significant influence on his career. He reminisced about his early days performing in the region, mentioning his first gig at the Limelight and his performances at the Empire Music Hall. Sheeran highlighted how the support from Northern Ireland has been crucial, stating that the region has "always been a huge part of my career." He also shared his excitement about returning to perform, noting that his upcoming shows at Boucher Playing Fields would be his first in Northern Ireland in six years. Additionally, he engaged with fans by visiting local spots like the Sunflower Pub and Oh Yeah Music Centre, where he signed the wall, further endearing himself to the local community.
