The professional hockey team in Greensboro, North Carolina, previously known as the Greensboro Prowlers, has undergone a rebranding and will now be called the Greensboro Gliders. This change comes ahead of the next season in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL). The new name and logo, which were revealed on June 20, 2023, reflect the city's history with aviation, particularly referencing the nearby Piedmont Triad International Airport and the historical significance of the Wright brothers' first flight nearby. The team's new logo features a sleek, modern design with a glider aircraft, symbolizing speed and agility, aligning with the team's aspirations to soar in the league.
