Deon Cole, known for his role in "Black-ish," faced backlash for wearing Gucci pants after the brand was embroiled in controversy for a sweater design perceived as racially insensitive in 2019. In response to criticism from anti-gay trolls, Cole defended his choice by emphasizing that he does not support hate or discrimination. He explained that his decision to wear the pants was not an endorsement of Gucci's past mistakes but rather a personal fashion choice, highlighting that he believes in second chances and that companies can learn from their errors. Cole also pointed out the importance of not conflating a brand's missteps with the personal beliefs of individuals who choose to wear their products.
