A predawn fire on January 10, 2023, completely destroyed the Berkeley Iceland, a historic ice skating rink in Berkeley, California, which had been a community hub since its opening in 1940. The fire, which started around 5 a.m., led to the collapse of the roof and caused no injuries as the building was unoccupied at the time.
