ABC Chair Kim Williams AM today announced media and production industry executive Hugh Marks as the new Managing Director of the ABC.

Hugh Marks has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), effective from July 1, 2023. Previously, Marks served as the CEO of Nine Entertainment Co., where he was instrumental in transforming the company into a leading media conglomerate in Australia. His appointment follows an extensive search for a successor to David Anderson, who retired after a notable tenure. Marks brings a wealth of experience in media, digital transformation, and content strategy, which are expected to guide the ABC through its next phase of growth and adaptation in the rapidly evolving media landscape. His leadership is anticipated to focus on enhancing the ABC's digital presence, fostering innovation, and ensuring the broadcaster remains relevant and accessible to all Australians.
