Nazara Technologies, an Indian gaming and sports media platform, has acquired a 60% stake in Funky Monkeys, a Mumbai-based startup specializing in sports and entertainment centers, for Rs 3.3 crore. This acquisition marks Nazara's entry into the physical entertainment sector, aiming to expand its footprint beyond digital gaming. The deal includes a commitment to invest an additional Rs 1.7 crore in Funky Monkeys over the next two years. Funky Monkeys operates centers that offer a variety of activities like trampolining, rock climbing, and go-karting, targeting children and young adults. This move is part of Nazara's strategy to diversify its offerings and tap into the growing market for family entertainment centers in India.
