  • It's all about the "R." What used to stand for "regional" in the RSN acronym now stands for "Rangers," as in "Rangers Sports Network," the newly created media venture that will produce and distribute the team's games and potentially other content.

The Texas Rangers have announced the launch of the Rangers Sports Network (RSN), a new regional sports network set to begin broadcasting in 2024. This network will cover all Rangers games, pre-game, and post-game shows, along with additional team-related content. The RSN will replace the current Bally Sports Southwest, which has been broadcasting Rangers games. The team has secured distribution agreements with Charter Communications and DirecTV, with expectations of further deals with other major cable providers soon. This move comes as part of a broader shift in sports broadcasting, following the financial difficulties and bankruptcy of Diamond Sports Group, the parent company of Bally Sports. The Rangers' initiative aims to ensure fans have access to games through various platforms, enhancing viewer experience and engagement.
