Sony is officially the largest shareholder of FromSoftware owner Kadokawa
- With the new shares, Sony is currently Kadokawa's largest shareholder, now holding approximately 10% of its shares, including the shares Sony acquired in February 2021.
Sony has become the largest shareholder of Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, known for developing critically acclaimed games like "Dark Souls" and "Elden Ring." This strategic investment was made through Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), which now holds a 14.09% stake in Kadokawa, surpassing the previous largest shareholder, the Kadokawa family. The move is part of Sony's broader strategy to strengthen its position in the gaming industry by investing in high-quality content creators. This investment not only signifies Sony's commitment to enhancing its game portfolio but also potentially influences the future direction of FromSoftware's game development, possibly leading to more exclusive titles for Sony's platforms.
