Four members of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at San Diego State University pleaded not guilty during a court appearance on Monday, Jan. 6. to charges related to the burning incident

Four members of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at Bowling Green State University in Ohio have been charged with felony hazing and misdemeanor charges after a pledge suffered severe burns during a hazing incident. The incident occurred during a "Big/Little" skit where pledges were instructed to wear blindfolds and were then sprayed with a mixture of water and vinegar, followed by a flammable liquid, which was ignited. The pledge, who was not named, sustained burns covering 16% of his body, including his face, ears, neck, arms, and hands. The charged members, Jacob Krinn, Benjamin Boyers, Cullen McConnaha, and Garrett Sprowls, face charges including hazing, failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, and reckless homicide. The university has suspended the fraternity, and the incident has sparked a broader conversation about the dangers of hazing in Greek life.
