Ektaa files Rs 100 crore defamation suit after soldier disrespect claims

In 2020, popular social media personality Hindustani Bhau filed a legal suit against Ektaa Kapoor for disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her shows on the OTT platform Alt Balaji. Early morning reports stated that the court has ordered the Mumbai police to investigate the matter and submit a final report by May 10.
Ektaa Kapoor, a prominent Indian television producer, has filed a defamation lawsuit seeking Rs 100 crore against individuals who accused her of disrespecting Indian soldiers. The controversy arose from a scene in her web series "XXX" where a character dressed in an army uniform was involved in a compromising situation, leading to public outrage. Critics, including BJP leader Chitra Wagh, claimed this portrayal insulted the Indian Army. In response, Ektaa's legal team argued that the series was intended for an adult audience and was not meant to disrespect the military. The lawsuit targets those who made the allegations, asserting that their statements were baseless and aimed at tarnishing Ektaa's reputation. The case highlights the ongoing debate about creative freedom versus respect for national symbols and sentiments.
