The Associated Press names its Breakthrough Entertainers of 2024

- All seven have ended 2024 with critical and popular attention and have been named The Associated Press' Breakthrough Entertainers of the Year. The latest class join a range of Breakthrough Entertainers anointed since 2017, including Ayo Edebiri, SZA, Rachel Zegler, Megan Thee Stallion and Daniel Kaluuya.
The Associated Press has named its Breakthrough Entertainers of 2024, highlighting a diverse group of talents making significant impacts in the entertainment industry. This year's list includes Kris Bowers, a composer known for his work on "The Color Purple" and "Origin," showcasing his ability to blend classical and modern music. Charles Melton, an actor who has transitioned from teen roles to more complex characters in "May December," has also been recognized. Ayo Edebiri, celebrated for her role in "The Bear," has impressed with her comedic timing and dramatic depth. ReneƩ Rapp, who has made waves in both acting and music, particularly with her role in "The Sex Lives of College Girls" and her debut album, is another honoree. Lastly, the list features the K-pop group NewJeans, which has rapidly gained international fame with their unique sound and style, marking a significant breakthrough in the global music scene.
