Social media beats TV as top American news source for first time, study finds

A recent study by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism has found that social media has surpassed television as the primary news source for Americans, marking a significant shift in media consumption habits. The study, which surveyed over 93,500 individuals across 46 countries, revealed that 44% of Americans now rely on social media platforms like TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and others for news, compared to 33% who prefer television.
