  The BJP lawmaker sparked a row when he said, '(the) Supreme Court is taking the country towards anarchy' and that 'Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna is responsible for the civil wars taking place in the country'.

The Supreme Court of India declined to entertain a contempt petition against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for his alleged violation of a court order by making statements against a judge. The court, headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, advised the petitioner, lawyer Suraj Kumar, to approach the high court instead, as the Supreme Court typically does not handle such contempt cases directly. The bench emphasized that the high court is better equipped to deal with these matters and suggested that Kumar file his plea there.
