Published on 2024-12-10 04:24:10 - Variety
- Saudi Arabia's Neom Media hub has forged a partnership with Hakawati Entertainment comprising a nine-picture deal and a new production services unit.
Saudi Arabia's NEOM has entered into a nine-picture deal with Hakawati Entertainment, a new production company founded by former Netflix MENA executive Nuha El Tayeb and former MBC Studios executive Ali Al Jaber. This agreement, announced at the Cannes Film Festival, aims to produce a diverse slate of films including action, thriller, horror, and drama, with a focus on both local and international appeal. NEOM will provide production services, locations, and post-production facilities, while Hakawati will handle development, financing, and distribution. The partnership seeks to leverage NEOM's state-of-the-art infrastructure to foster a new era of filmmaking in the region, with plans to start production in the second half of 2024. This collaboration is part of a broader strategy to position NEOM as a global hub for media and entertainment, enhancing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by diversifying its economy and promoting cultural exports.
