"Laapataa Ladies," directed by Kiran Rao, has been selected as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025 in the Best International Feature Film category but did not make it to the final shortlist. The film, which tells the story of two brides who get lost on a train, was chosen from 22 entries by a Film Federation of India (FFI) panel. Despite its critical acclaim and the buzz it generated, it did not advance to the next stage of the Academy Awards. The Oscars 2025 shortlist for the Best International Feature Film category will be announced on December 21, 2024, with the final nominations revealed on January 23, 2025, and the awards ceremony taking place on March 2, 2025.
