Corus Entertainment reported a significant decline in its financial performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, with revenue dropping by 12% to $299.5 million from $339.7 million in the same quarter of the previous year. The company's profit also fell by 30%, amounting to $15.5 million or $0.08 per share, compared to $22.2 million or $0.11 per share last year. This downturn was attributed to a challenging advertising market, which saw a 14% decrease in advertising revenue, although this was partially offset by a 10% increase in subscriber revenue. Additionally, Corus experienced a 13% reduction in television revenue, while radio revenue saw a slight increase of 1%. The company also faced a 15% rise in direct cost of sales, primarily due to higher programming costs, and a 10% increase in general and administrative expenses. Despite these challenges, Corus managed to reduce its debt by $30.0 million, bringing the total to $677.6 million.
