  • Argentina's monthly inflation likely rose 2.7% last month, an acceleration from the 2.4% reading in November, according to the median expectations of analysts polled by Reuters.

In December 2025, Argentina's inflation rate is expected to have surged to 27%, driven by a sharp devaluation of the peso following President Javier Milei's economic reforms. These reforms included a significant 54% devaluation of the currency, which was part of a broader strategy to address the country's economic challenges. The monthly inflation rate for December was projected to be between 25% and 30%, a stark increase from November's 12.8% rate. This acceleration in inflation has led to a notable decrease in consumer spending, with retail sales dropping by 28.5% in the first 15 days of December compared to the same period in the previous year. The economic measures have also resulted in a contraction of the economy, with the central bank's director hinting at a potential GDP drop of 2% to 3% in the first quarter of 2024.
