University celebrates links to Oscar-nominated films

  • Dozens of graduates from a university have worked on films nominated at this years Academy Awards.More than 40 former students from Bournemouth University's computer animation and media production departments worked on some of last year's biggest films.

The University of York is celebrating its connections to several Oscar-nominated films for the 2024 Academy Awards. The university has ties to "The Zone of Interest," which has five nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best International Feature Film. This film was shot on location at the university, utilizing its facilities for production. Additionally, "Poor Things," with 11 nominations, was supported by the university's XR Stories team, which provided virtual production expertise. The university also has links to "American Fiction," nominated for Best Picture, through its alumni and staff who contributed to the film. These connections highlight the university's growing influence in the film industry, showcasing its resources and talent on an international stage.
