SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The Castro is getting a boost and is becoming San Francisco's newest entertainment zone. What does this mean for the historic neighborhood? The historic Fillmore District in San Francisco is set to receive a significant boost with the opening of the new $400 million Fillmore Heritage Center, which will feature a museum, a theater, and a community center. This development, part of a broader revitalization effort, aims to celebrate and preserve the neighborhood's rich cultural history, particularly its jazz heritage from the mid-20th century. The project has been supported by both public and private funds, and local residents and business owners are hopeful that it will attract more visitors and stimulate economic growth in the area. The center is expected to open its doors to the public in early 2024.
