"Young people are not doing as well as they used to be."

A recent Harvard survey reveals that Generation Z, those born between 1997 and 2012, are experiencing unprecedented levels of unhappiness and mental health challenges, with only 44% reporting happiness compared to 75% of Baby Boomers. The survey, which included over 3,000 participants aged 18 to 25, highlights that Gen Z faces significant hurdles such as financial instability, with 47% struggling to meet basic needs, and a pervasive sense of loneliness, with 60% feeling lonely "often" or "always." Additionally, the report notes a concerning trend of increased hopelessness and suicidal thoughts among young adults, exacerbated by economic pressures and social isolation, underscoring the urgent need for targeted mental health support and societal changes to address these issues.
