One in five girls aged between 13 and 15 reported problems compared with one in 10 boys that age.

The article from Yahoo News discusses a study by Common Sense Media which found that teenage girls are experiencing more problematic TikTok use compared to boys. The study surveyed over 1,300 adolescents aged 11 to 15 and revealed that 45% of girls reported problematic use, compared to 35% of boys. Problematic use was defined by behaviors such as difficulty stopping use, interference with daily life, and negative impacts on mental health. The study also highlighted that girls are more likely to engage with content related to mental health and body image, which may contribute to their higher rates of problematic use. The findings underscore the need for greater awareness and support for young girls navigating social media platforms.
