A French woman named Cecile Pouget fell victim to an elaborate AI-driven scam where she was romantically deceived by a fake Brad Pitt, created using deepfake technology. The scammer, posing as Pitt, engaged in a virtual relationship with Pouget, convincing her to invest in a fake cryptocurrency scheme. After she lost a significant amount of money, the scam was exposed, leading to widespread media coverage and unfortunately, cyberbullying against Pouget. The incident has highlighted the dangers of AI in perpetrating sophisticated scams, prompting discussions on the need for better online security measures and awareness about the capabilities of AI in creating convincing digital personas.
