FCB Chicago, in collaboration with the Chicago Hearing Society and Rakish Entertainment, has launched a new standard in cinematic accessibility called "Open Windows." This initiative aims to enhance the movie-going experience for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals by integrating American Sign Language (ASL) directly into films. The project began with the short film "40 Levels," which features ASL interpretation within the movie itself, allowing deaf viewers to watch alongside hearing audiences without needing separate devices or special screenings. This approach not only promotes inclusivity but also seeks to set a new industry standard for accessibility in cinema.
