American businessman John Textor has confirmed his intention to sell his stake in Crystal Palace so that he can buy fellow Premier League club Everton. Textor, a 58-year-old digital media and entertainment entrepreneur, owns a 45% shareholding in Palace
John Textor, an American businessman and the largest shareholder of Crystal Palace, has confirmed his intention to sell his stake in the club in order to pursue the acquisition of fellow Premier League team Everton. Textor, who also owns a majority stake in Lyon and has investments in other football clubs, believes that owning multiple clubs in the same league could lead to conflicts of interest. He expressed his admiration for Everton and its passionate fanbase, stating that he sees great potential in the club despite its recent struggles on and off the field. Textor's decision to sell his shares in Crystal Palace comes as the club has been performing well under manager Roy Hodgson, currently sitting in 11th place in the Premier League standings.
