Michael Cole of 'The Mod Squad' and 'General Hospital' dies

(NEXSTAR) — Michael Cole, well-known for his roles in "The Mod Squad" and "General Hospital," has died, according to his publicist. He was 84. Cole, a native of Madison, Wisconsin, "passed away peacefully" Tuesday morning, a press release shared with Nexstar said. No cause of death was listed.

Michael Cole, best known for his role as Pete Cochran on the 1960s TV series "The Mod Squad" and for his portrayal of Harlan Barrett on "General Hospital," has passed away at the age of 72. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Sabrina Cole, who did not disclose the cause. Cole's career began in the late 1960s, gaining fame with "The Mod Squad," where he played one of the three young undercover cops. After the show ended in 1973, he continued acting in various TV shows and films, including a notable stint on "General Hospital" from 1991 to 2002. Cole was remembered for his significant contributions to television and his impact on the entertainment industry.
