These nominations are then opened up for public voting, where fans can vote for their favorite games in categories like Game of the Year, Best Narrative, and others. However, the final decision isn't solely based on public votes. Each category has a jury composed of 60-120 industry experts who also vote, and their votes are weighted more heavily than the public's. This jury includes developers, journalists, and other industry insiders. For categories like Best Performance, where expertise might be less relevant, the jury's influence is slightly less pronounced. Additionally, some awards like Best Esports Game or Best Indie Game might have different voting dynamics or additional criteria. The process aims to balance fan enthusiasm with professional critique to determine the winners.
