A former Senate staffer who was filmed having sex in the Hart Senate Office Building in 2023 told New York Magazine he did so due to feeling "bored" at his job.

A former Senate staffer, who was fired after filming a sex tape in a Senate hearing room, reportedly told friends that he did it to entertain himself due to boredom at work, according to a report by the Daily Caller. The staffer, who worked for Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), was dismissed after the video surfaced online, prompting an investigation by the Capitol Police. The incident, which took place in the Hart Senate Office Building, has raised concerns about security and the misuse of government property. Sen. Cardin expressed disappointment and emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the standards of his office.
