This decision came in response to a case where a constable was dismissed from service for playing cards during duty hours. The court emphasized that the act of playing cards, in the absence of betting or gambling, should not be considered a morally reprehensible act. The judgment highlighted the distinction between playing cards for fun and playing with stakes, stating that only the latter could be seen as involving moral turpitude. The court overturned the constable's dismissal, ordering his reinstatement with all consequential benefits.
