Kevin Mayer Says There's 'Not Enough' Alarm Over Hollywood Becoming 'Less and Less Relevant'

In an interview with Variety, Candle Media co-founder and CEO Kevin Mayer expressed concern over the diminishing relevance of Hollywood, attributing it to the rise of short-form content on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. Mayer, who previously served as chairman of Disney's direct-to-consumer and international division, highlighted that the entertainment industry is undergoing a significant shift, with traditional long-form content losing ground to the more engaging and easily consumable short-form videos. He emphasized the need for Hollywood to adapt to these changing consumer preferences to remain competitive, suggesting that the industry's current trajectory could lead to a future where traditional media becomes increasingly marginalized.
