  • Three US senators said Tuesday they had written to Paramount over its efforts to settle President Donald Trump's lawsuit against its news division, suggesting that the entertainment giant risks violating bribery laws.Trump's lawsuit argues that the editing of a CBS News "60 Minutes" interview with his 2024 election rival Kamala Harris was biased in her favor and "deceptive."

U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Ron Wyden have initiated an investigation into Paramount Global's decision to air a film featuring former President Donald Trump interviewing individuals convicted of crimes related to the January 6 Capitol riot. The senators are concerned that the film, titled "The War on Truth," may have been funded by a nonprofit organization, which could potentially violate federal tax laws. They have requested information from Paramount's CEO, Bob Bakish, regarding the film's funding, production, and distribution, as well as any communications with Trump or his associates. The senators are also inquiring about the potential impact of the film on public perception and the integrity of the justice system.
